Who was Who in 2024:
Catherine Beale, Marches based Historian and Writer of Born out of Wenlock (DB Publishing), a fascinating tale of the British origins of the Modern Olympic Games.
Sally Coulthard, Bestselling author and columnist Sally Coulthard has spent the last two decades writing about her favourite things – nature, history and craft. Many of her books delve into the traditions of rural life – from artisans to agriculture – the people, plants and creatures who make the countryside tick.
Anne Glenconner is the bestselling author of Lady in Waiting. The memoir of her extraordinary life in the shadow of the crown has sold over 500,000 copies in the UK alone and was a Sunday Times bestseller for 37 weeks as well as a New York Times bestseller.
Robert Hardman, is a renowned writer and broadcaster, specialising in royalty and history. He is the author of several international bestsellers, of which Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II, was the 2022 Sunday Times Biography of the Year.
Jolyon Naegele, is a former East Europe correspondent at Voice of America, Balkans editor at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, and chief political affairs officer at the UN peacekeeping mission in Kosovo UNMIK.
Mark Seddon, is a former Journalist, was a speechwriter to Ban Ki-Moon and also a senior UN Communications Officer. He is currently Director for the Centre of United Nations Studies at the University of Buckingham.
Lord Lisvane, as Sir Robert Rogers, was Clerk of the House and Chief Executive of the House of Commons. He received a peerage in 2014 and sits as a Cross-Bencher, writing and speaking on Parliamentary and constitutional issues. He has lived in Herefordshire for most of his life, and is a Deputy Lieutenant for the County.
Carole Souter, previously Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund and a former Master of St. Cross College, Oxford, she was then Interim Chair of Historic Royal Palaces. Now Chair of the Sulgrave Manor Trust, a trustee of the Horniman Museum and the Oxford Preservation Trust, she has recently been appointed as Chair of The Heritage Alliance.
Steve Tibble, research associate at Royal Holloway College, University of London, is one of the foremost academics currently working in the field of the crusades, and divides his time between the Marches (happily writing) and London (happily researching).
James Wright, is an award winning buildings archaeologist and author of the popular Mediaeval Mythbusting Blog. He has over two decades of professional experience ferreting around cellars, hunting through attics and digging in gardens, to find meaningful truths about how folk lived their lives in the mediaeval period.

Fiona’s areas of interest include International Women's Issues, Animal Welfare, Foreign Affairs and Gender & Equality.
A proud resident of The Marches, Fiona is keen to support Arts and History in the area and help introduce this oft overlooked part of the country to a wider audience. By becoming our first Patron Fiona hopes to increase the public awareness of the varied things that The Marches has to offer to people of all ages and backgrounds.
