Think Cupid!

The editor asked speakers for more information about their talks and we loved Advolly Richmond’s response:

‘A light hearted look at the very social aspect of archery in the beautiful landscapes on the estates of the privileged few in many counties.

Drawn from letters and diaries, the talk is based around the activities of the Royal British Bowman Society and the various estates and families along the Welsh and Shropshire Marches. Unlike other societies, the British Bowmen were very progressive and included women from the outset.

Think Cupid! Speed dating in your beautiful bespoke uniforms of muslin and velvet! Lots of food and wine and a rousing ball into the early hours after the shooting, with carriages lined up to take the happy archers home.’
